I love talking to them. Their logic and words are so fun. Last week, Toby the four year old and I had this conversation.
"Grandma, why is the lake outside making so much noise?"
"That's not a lake Toby. It is a river and rivers run so they make that rushing sound."
"Are there fish in there?"
"Yes, nice big trout."
"Well I want to catch a little fish, not a big one."
"Why? We could eat a big fish."
"I don't want to eat it. I want to take it home and put it in my fish tank."
Smile.....
He was very serious and disappointed when I explained to him that it would not work to take a fish home from the river.
My five year old grandson has just returned to Vanuatu from furlough.
Joel is very verbal.
He knows what he wants and he has no trouble communicating it to whoever will listen.
The problem is that during the year he spent in USA he forgot the village language, and now he is completely frustrated because he can't talk to his friends.
So to express his frustration he is acting out in various, lets just say, not so good ways.
Please pray for the little guy....
I had my first e-mail from him this week....
"Grandma and Grandpa,
I love you. I'm playing soccer with my friends."
Good news I think....
Maybe the soccer will relax him and he will communicate without words until he learns Nafe again.
