I came up with a fun thing for the holidays.
Last year at the end of the Christmas season I found tree shaped Advent calendars with little boxes. The boxes are big enough for small candy treats. The kids will love the daily treats. I filled the boxes with a variety of candies. Along with the candies I prepared something to read or to do each day.
We looked at the Christmas scriptures in Luke and Matthew and compared them to the prophesy in Isaiah.
We looked at the story of the candy cane, and I included a small candy cane ornament for them to put together. The Oriental Trading Company on line has many inexpensive ornaments that you can purchase.
We looked at the true story of Saint Nicholas, and who legend says he is.
We looked at traditions, and the history of card making. I included blank cards for them to create their own to send to family.
I included Christmas pictures printed of the Internet to go along with the stories. Along with crayons and markers.
This whole project took lots of work and time, but it was fun to do. They will be thinking of grandma during the entire month of December with this project. I got it in the mail this week in plenty of time for December.
